The Dark Mysteries Campaign refers to both the overall fantasy campaign at this site, as well as the original story arc, which took place over four years of real-world time between the summer of 2000 and the spring of 2004.  Each of the campaigns are summarized here.

A note on the chapters: I wrote Dark Mysteries from notes taken while playing a pen-and-paper game.  Some of the chapters have been revised to improve the quality of the writing, but they're still far from final draft quality.

The Corsairs story was played as a Play-by-email game, and the original draft is principally the original email threads edited and organized a bit better, but it still has a lot of rough edges like frequent abrupt viewpoint jumps.

For a summary of the stories, refer to the Dark Mysteries Overview.

Dark Mysteries

Ancient Prophecies. Sinister Organizations. A Magickal Prison. Can a band of adventurers unravel millennia old prophecies and save an unaware world from the threat of annihilation?

A godlike evil from the dawn of time waits for the stars to align, freeing it from its death slumber to consume the world. The Dark One was unable to escape his own prison to unleash this menace, but others share his nefarious goals. Will the heroes be able to prevent the entity's degenerate minions from reciting the incantations that will free a horror that will doom the Oerth?

The Corsairs of the Brythomar

While the heroes are drawn towards the City under the Stars, a distant band of pirates make plans to perform the boldest theft of the century. Their caper will unwittingly involve them in the fate of the world, and it will reveal to them sites and sights previously unimagined.

Side Stories

The players from the Dark Mysteries game worked on a number of adventures on the side, developing their personae.  I rewarded such activities with extra adventure points, since it allowed the personae to develop even further without interfering with the main campaign arcs.  These adventures are collected under the heading "Side Stories".  All such stories were written entirely by the players, with no Journey Master involvement.  Most of them are considered canon.  These Side Story adventures took place during the Dark Mysteries story arc.

Interludes

The Interludes are a group of short stories set during the Dark Mysteries Campaigns.  These are adventures run by the Journey Master with only a couple of players instead of a full gaming group.  They are generally set chronologically after Dark Mysteries, but before the next major PnP campaign.

Futures

Looking into the future of Oerth, there are more adventures in the pipeline.  To get a peek of some of the adventure plans I have still waiting to be played, take a look at the Future Adventures.
