No medieval adventure is complete without castles.  Throughout Avillonia, and the rest of Oerth, there are a number of such structures.

Auld Castle, Caelioradh, Caledonia

The royal castle of the King of Caledonia.

The Black Tower, Hillsdale, the Dales

The Black Tower was the last remnant of Castle Woodsguard, a castle lost to antiquity near the village of Hillsdale in the Dales.  It was last used as a home for the witch Axransa while she worked to enslave the nearby villagers.  After Sturm and his companions raided the tower, the interior wooden structure burned, leaving an empty shell of age-blackened stone.

Castle Treasa, Londoun, K5C

Castle Treasa is a large fortification adjacent to Cathedral Treasa in Londoun, K5C.  The castle is the base and training facility for the Knights of the Church who are stationed in Londoun.

Hold Londoun, Londoun, K5C

Hold Londoun is the Sun Knight's castle in Londoun, K5C.  All Sun Knights in the northern region of the Kingdom of the Five Crowns are nominally based at the hold, although many are physically situated elsewhere.

In reality, Hold Londoun is perpetually understaffed.  Since the Sun Knights' primary mission is to fight orcs, and there are no orcs near Londoun, the Order keeps a bare minimum of troops stationed in Hold Londoun.  The primary mission of the castle is to recruit from the youth of Londoun.  Once a quarter, the new recruits are sent to the Sunkeep in Llwelyn for their formal induction into the Order and  their training.

The hold is falling into disrepair, but the Order's attentions are focused elsewhere, so there is little expectation that anything will be done about it.

The Sunkeep, Llwelyn, K5C

The Sunkeep is the headquarters of the Order of the Knights of the Sun.  It is a dominating castle located at the confluence of two rivers in the city of Llwelyn, on the Plains of Albion in the southern extents of the Kingdom of the Five Crowns.  All recruits of the order are sent to the Sunkeep for induction and training.

A traditional trope of the fantasy game are the ubiquitous bars, taverns, and inns.  With all of the travel adventurers do, it is inevitable that they will spend time in many of these facilities throughout the realms.  Herein are a few of them.

The Anvil, Hillsdale, the Dales

The Anvil is a public house on the east side of HIllsdale, across the town's stream from the bulk of the village.  The smiths of Hillsdale constructed it there, near their smithys, so they would have a convenient place to gather at the end of the day.  The Anvil also doubles as the smiths' Guild House.

Unlike the rest of the town, the Anvil was assembled from uncut logs, giving it a very rough-hewn appearance.

Carved Tusk Wine Club, Londoun, K5C

An exclusive wine club in Londoun, the Carved Tusk caters only to the wealthiest and most powerful nobles; it is used as a meeting place, since it has a private upstairs room in addition to the main floor's "common" area.

Cliffside Tavern, Saltcliffs, K5C

A run-down tavern on the edge of the cliff in Saltcliffs.  The tavern caters to the remaining locals, and never sees business from merchants or other travelers.  Most of the clientele are the dock workers who while away their time waiting for business.

Cross Inn, Eastdale, the Dales

An inn frequented by travelers to Eastdale, the Cross Inn's common room is frequently boisterous, and one can often find talented musicians playing within.

Drunkard's Sigil, Brallian, Eiresud

A seedy tavern in Brallian.  Its decor could best be described as "whatever furnishings we could find".

First Inn, Eiresud

The sole inn of a new village about a day's travel north of Kells en route to Ithell's Town, the First Inn is new enough that it still smells of fresh-cut lumber.

Hillsdale Inn, Hillsdale, the Dales

A cozy inn on the edge of HIllsdale, the Hillsdale Inn is a two-story structure with plentiful rooms.

Holy Ash Inn, Kells, Eiresud

One of the better inns in Kells, the Holy Ash Inn is across the Via Avillonia from the park that separates the Cathedral Kells and the Castle Kells.

Jewel of Londoun, Londoun, K5C

One of the many fancier restaurants in Londoun, the Jewel of Londoun is considered by many of the better-to-do commoners to be the finest restaurant in the city.  Nobles, of course, have different opinions.

Kelpie's Saddle, Brallian, Eiresud

A tavern near the docks in Brallian, Eiresud, that is popular with sailors.  It has earned a reputation for maintaining a wide selection of rums.

Lecherous Parrot, Khosinga's Port, Gates of Heracles

The Lecherous Parrot is one of the innumerable taverns near the docks of Khosinga's Port.  It is notable for a faded red sail that is nailed to the interior ceiling, although most of the other nautical decor is indistinct from the other taverns of the town.

Llwelyn's Rise, Armagh, K5C

A roomy tavern in Armagh decorated with memorabilia from the river boats that ply the River Llwelyn.  It was within this tavern that the original party first encountered the Company of Unusual Headgear (later, Ians' Recovery Agency).

The Morning Bar, Londoun, K5C

A favorite of the Sun Knights in Londoun, the Morning Bar is near Hold Londoun.

The Pits, Khosinga's Port, Gates of Heracles

The Pits is not as much a tavern as a fighting club.  It provides a venue for the pirate crews on shore to vent their energies in a way that doesn't involve damaging other taverns.

The Salty Anchor, Londoun, K5C

A favorite tavern of the Thieves' Guild of Londoun.  The Salty Anchor appears to be a run down tavern near the Docks District of Londoun.  The Salty Anchor is a favored bar of the Thieves' Guild and other ne'er-do-wells, and it is officially sanctioned as neutral ground for the Guildmembers - no fights over "business" are permitted within its confines.  It gets its name from an old anchor encrusted with salt crystals that hangs behind the bar.  The bar's owner, Glain Rankeillor, will tell anyone who listens the story of how the anchor became encrusted with salt in the middle of the Vasmar, the fresh-water sea upon whose coast Londoun resides.

Seventh Raven, Armagh, K5C

A fine restaurant in Armagh - the only upscale restaurant in the town.

Square Inn, Saltcliffs, K5C

The Square Inn was the best, and only, inn remaining in Saltcliffs.  The inn is clean, but not particularly noteworthy.  When Brule, the innkeeper, disappeared, the inn fell into disuse.

True Point Tavern, Londoun, K5C

The True Point Tavern on the famed Falagos Square is a favorite of the students of the fencing salons in the Falagos District.

Twin Spruce Inn, Brallian, Eiresud

The Twin Spruce Inn is an inn in Brallian perhaps best known for a bizarre annual ritual.  Every year (and sometimes more often), two men chase one another across the steep, colorful rooftops of the inn.  One, the pursued, dressed in aught but a loin cloth, while the other, the pursuer, wears dark leather armor.  The ritual purportedly is a reenactment of a pair of guests who stayed at the inn.  Regardless of its origin, it's popular, especially amongst the women, who watch from the streets as the men race across the rooftop.
