Orlando, Florida -- State and local police blocked off a twelve square block area today in an attempt to capture a group of mercenaries who purportedly attacked an organized crime ring near downtown Orlando this afternoon. Although details remain unclear, some facts have emerged. A crime ring had been operating in the Orlando area, targeting the numerous tourists who visit and robbing them or breaking into their hotel rooms. The local tourist industry became frustrated, since police had been unable to gather enough evidence to issue arrest warrants. According to informed sources, several of the larger tourist businesses pooled together to hire a mercenary hit team to eliminate the crime ring in a high-profile attack meant to warn away other potential criminal elements.

Although over a dozen suspected members of the crime ring were found dead in an office building, no mercenaries were apprehended.

Norleans Biochem has been a leading developer of pesticides and herbicides since it was formed in 1992 by William Sherman. In the last two years, the company has reportedly been researching genetically-modified grains.

Washington, DC -- A spokesperson for the Department of Defense today acknowledged that several Army and National Guard armories had been broken into during the last two years. "We are still conducting a thorough accounting of the types and quantities of materiel missing from our sites," the spokesperson admitted. Privately, several highly-placed contacts in the Department of Defense agreed that it was "very likely" that weapons were among the items stolen, and that those weapons had found their way into criminal hands.
