The Grey Skyes Campaign
Personae Dramatis
Still in progress... Players, feel free to contribute
The Players
- Diana Candice Morris "Candi": One of the xenobiolgists on the original Discovery mission,
Candi turned out to be far more interested in finding places to surf than in
analyzing the native flora and fauna. Her retro-Val speech patterns made her,
like, totally easy to pick out in a crowd? Fer Sure!
- Cletus: A Navy remote-fighter pilot and serious gun collector who arrived
on the scene late in Book II, around the time that Sergei returned to Sol.
- Heidi M. Daniels: A reporter for the Sol News Network assigned to the
fledgling Zeta Tucanae branch (she's the only reporter in system). She got
to go on the original mission as the journalist/documentarist. Even now,
H. M. Daniels, as she goes by on the air, is trying to live down her past as a
B-grade holovid starlet. Rocky occasionally slips and calls her by her old
stage name of "Bambi". Dr. MacLaren has goaded her for the pretentiousness
of using "H. M." by calling her "Her Majesty".
- Gregor MacAllister: The Executive Officer of the Discovery mission was
selected as the Chief Diplomat (mostly a figurehead for the Diplomatic Corps)
for the second mission (Book II). His stores of single-malt scotch were legend,
and he spent far too much of his time during the first flight to Zeta Tucanae
consuming scotch and singing show tunes on the bridge of the Discovery during
the night shifts.
- Dr. M. Sean MacLaren: The Ship's Surgeon on the first flight, and the "honorary"
Marine General and head of the Medical Corps during the second mission, Dr. MacLaren's
poor attitude and worse bedside manners gave her such a reputation amongst the military
members of the second mission that they avoided her like the plague. She was railroaded
into joining the diplomatic mission after she was accused of shooting a tranq dart at a ski bunny on the
slopes near her Colorado ranch. Unfortunately, this skier's dad was a high-level
diplomat, and the Terran Government wisely decided that Dr. MacLaren needed an
extended vacation away from Terra.
- William "Rocky" Ordenburg: The bizarre Rocky has provided a number of odd
events during the campaign. Early in Book II, while Gregor MacAllister
was quarantined in orbit, Rocky was the Acting Chief Diplomat. Without consultation
of any other authority (including the native government), he created the Terran-Tucanae
Cooperation Alliance and the
TTCA Marines -- enlisting the children of RoseWell who had formed their own
club, the marine rockide during the human absence on Zeta Tucanae. He also
frequently harrassed Heidi M. Daniels, the journalist, because of her prior
career as a second-rate horror film "actress". Most notable during the original
mission was Rocky's tendency to wear his vacc suit all the time, with the helmet
and gauntlets hanging in a net bag at his side. He could get from wide open to full
atmospheric integrity in about the same amount of time as most people could take a
deep breath. As Candi said while the group was
enjoying a quiet afternoon sunning themselves on Neo Zealand, "And here's Rocky.
He may be crazy, but he's paranoid."
- Sergei Kovalev: The engineer of the Discovery happened to be a genius at
maintaining and field repairing ship's components. He was able to provide all
the specs for the damaged components of the Discovery's reactor from
memory -- in engineering school, he had built and refined an identical reactor
as his senior project! He left early in the second Book to escort Hoser God's
CPU to Terra, since it wanted to leave ZT2 very badly, before "They" arrived.
- Frederich Wurster: A psionics researcher who accompanied the military/diplomatic
mission to Zeta Tucanae in Book II. He was in the right place at the right time,
and he's managed to create a Psionics Corps and attach it to the Terran-Tucanae
Cooperation Alliance.
