Julia's first horse, Dakota:
Julia and her husband went out to the horse ranch late in the morning. After Julia got Dakota saddled, she led him around the outdoor arena so he would not be surprised by anything. Dakota was not particularly impressed.
After she had showed him around, Julia brought Dakota back to the mounting block to climb into the saddle.
Julia enjoyed the ride, and Dakota did not seem bothered.
Julia posting on Dakota. She discovered that Dakota (registered name "Go Tex Oh") understands "go", such as walking, or, even better, trotting. He had a litle more problem with some other commands, like "whoa"...
Julia picked up Dakota on July 14th. He was annoyed with the fly spray, but he was a good boy and held still.
Julia talked to Dakota while Cathy covered Dakota's flanks with the fly spray.
Dakota was very responsive, and he was no trouble at all loading into the trailer for the long trip north. If he knew how long the trip was going to be, he may have been a little more hesitant. Doesn't he look good in red?
We had to wait for a few minutes for Satin to meet us and drop off a couple of saddles. Here, he's asking "Does my head really look like Wimpy?"
The next morning, Julia went to check on him to see how he did on his first night. Once again, he came when called.
And here are a couple of obligatory shots of Dakota in profile and walking away...
